Filabot Wee, Filabot Core, and Reclaimer (Grinder)

At Filabot we are always revising our product line. Recently, we launched the Filabot Wee for pre-order, and we have removed the Filabot Core from the store. This has raised many questions, so let us explain.

Filabot Wee (Available Here)

The Filabot Wee is our open source filament extruder. It is available for pre-order right now. It has the same extruder chamber and hopper that is in the Filabot Core. The Filabot Wee turns pellets into filament. The only difference is that the Filabot Wee comes as a kit that needs to be assembled, and has a wood enclosure. There are two version of this kit- the Welded and Unweleded versions. For the Welded kit, all you will have to do is assemble and extrude. For the Unweleded kit, you will have to weld, assemble, and extrude.

Filabot Core (Still in the works)

The Filabot Core is our flagship system. We have not completely removed it from our store. It will be back when it is ready. The Filabot Core is also a filament extruder. Just like the Filabot Wee, it turns pellets into filament. The main difference is that the Filabot Core comes assembled, with a professionally powder coated enclosure. The Filabot Core is ready to make filament right out of the box. The Filabot Core also has additional features and has specifically designed add ons that can improve it's capabilities.

Reclaimer (Grinder still in the works)

When the Filabot was first developed it was going to be designed to be an all in one system. Quickly we realized that some customers only want to make low cost filament instead of recycling their prints. So instead of making a all in one system, we decided it would make more sense to separate the grinder from the extruder, and provide it as an add on. The great thing about this, is that since it is an add on and not specific to the Filabot Wee or the Filabot Core, the grinder can be used with both of the systems.

We hope that this has helped to explain our product line up. If you have any questions or need something clarified we will be more than happy to help. Please use the contact page or send an email to

Hi Luca, Over the years we have changed a few things around, we have two grinder units now. One is the Filabot Industrial Reclaimer (For sale now) and the other is the Filabot Reclaimer (In design phase). We are not sure of the price of the Filabot Reclaimer at this point.

(as usual) this all sounds great – when can we expect it all to be on the market?

The Reclaimer will allow for the Filabot Core and the Filabot Wee to grind and recycle plastic back into filament.

Hi, I’m a little confused about the Filabot Core. Will it still grind and recycle plastic into filaments?
